Acupuncture
Acupuncture, a therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of the most widely accepted alternative, complementary and integrative medicine techniques in all countries of the Western world. Every day millions of people are treated with acupuncture. Acupuncture involves the stimulation of specific points on the body, usually by inserting very fine needles into the skin and underlying tissues.
Stimulating these specific points is believed to affect the flow of Qi. Qi is the life force that permeates the body. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that disease results from improper flow of Qi along energy pathways throughout the body. Stimulating these points helps restore balance between yin (dark, negative forces) and yang (positive, bright forces).
